Intuit Introduces QuickBooks® Pro 99: The Easiest QuickBooks Ever

America's #1 Accounting Software Now Integrates with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and a Comprehensive New Family of Web-based Small Business Services from Intuit

Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ:INTU) today introduced QuickBooks 99 and QuickBooks Pro 99 for Windows, the latest upgrades to the #1 best-selling small business accounting software at retail in the United States.1 QuickBooks Pro, which has now surpassed regular QuickBooks as the best-selling version of the software, is expected to attract more customers than ever before with its complete multi-user features and new integration with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel 2 and the entire family of Web-based small business services from Intuit.

QuickBooks 99 and QuickBooks Pro 99 are expected to be widely available in most major chain and independent software retailers today. "In the six years since QuickBooks was introduced, the number of people who buy retail accounting software has grown by 500 percent, with QuickBooks leading that market with 80+% share of retail units sold in 1998 3. Many customers prefer QuickBooks because of its unique ability to effectively meet the ever-expanding needs of small businesses while still maintaining its trademark ease-of-use," said Scott Cook, Chairman of the Executive Committee and co-founder of Intuit. QuickBooks is Most Popular Accounting Software With Word and Excel Users
According to Intuit market research, QuickBooks is by far the most popular retail accounting software among Microsoft Word and Excel users. Currently more than 80% of QuickBooks customers use some combination of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and the Internet to manage their business on a daily basis. Customers have told Intuit that they want these applications to work together more effectively. In direct response to specific customer requests, Intuit has developed QuickBooks Pro 99 to make it easier than ever to manage a small business using QuickBooks, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and the Internet. 

Pricing\Rebates and Availability
QuickBooks 99: The estimated street price for QuickBooks 99 is $119.95. Retail customers upgrading from a previous version of QuickBooks can receive a $50 rebate when they buy QuickBooks 99. Retail customers upgrading from Quicken can receive a $30 rebate.

QuickBooks Pro 99: The estimated street price for QuickBooks Pro 99 is $219.95. Each user in a multi-user environment will need his or her own copy of QuickBooks Pro 99 in order to share data. Retail customers upgrading from a previous version of QuickBooks or QuickBooks Pro can receive a $70 rebate when they buy QuickBooks Pro 99. Retail customers upgrading from Quicken can receive a $30 rebate. All retail customers who purchase one copy of QuickBooks Pro 99 are then eligible to receive a $70 rebate on each additional copy of QuickBooks Pro 99 that they purchase.

QuickBooks Pro 99 5-User Value Pack: Intuit is also offering QuickBooks Pro 99 5-User Value Pack. The estimated street price is $599.95. Retail customers upgrading from a previous version of QuickBooks or QuickBooks Pro can receive a $100 rebate when they purchase the QuickBooks Pro 99 5-user Value Pack. Retail customers upgrading from Quicken can receive a $30 rebate.

Customers can purchase QuickBooks 99 or QuickBooks Pro 99 by visiting their local software retailer. Customers can also order the software directly from Intuit by calling 1-800-224-0991 or by visiting the Quicken Store.

System Requirements and Compatibility
QuickBooks 99 and QuickBooks Pro 99 for Windows require an IBM compatible 486DX66 PC (or higher), 16 MB of RAM minimum (32 MB recommended), a hard drive with 55 MB free disk space plus 40 MB for Internet Explorer, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT or higher, and a VGA or SVGA video monitor (display of 800 x 600 recommended), 2x CD-ROM (double speed), or a 3.5-inch high density floppy disk drive (floppy disks sold separately). Works with any printer supported by Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows NT 4.0. The Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel integration features in QuickBooks Pro 99 require Microsoft Word 97 and Microsoft Excel 97. Online features require Internet access.

Note: Multi-user features were introduced in QuickBooks Pro 6.0. Each user in
a multi-user environment will need his or her own copy of the same version of
QuickBooks Pro to share data. Up to 5 users can have simultaneous access
to the same QuickBooks Pro data file. QuickBooks Pro 99 is optimized for
Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows NT 4.0 peer-to-peer networks;
Windows NT 4.0 Server or Novell NetWare 3.12 (or higher) network required.
