QuickBooks XML Integration - Revolutionary

Even CPAs rarely say accounting software is revolutionary. QuickBooks 2002 and 2003 earn this description. Here is a partial list of what we feel is most important:

       For 2002:
Programs that integrate ONLY with QuickBooks Pro 2002 and later.
            Condensing big files for inventory.
Report templates that can be imported and exported.
Work closely with QuickBooks CPA experts

2003 Update initially written 12/16/2002:

On 12/28/01, about a week after the release of QB 2002, you would have read this here, " we can expect far more programs to integrate with QB and related report templates." This very profitable revolution is accelerating faster than any of us imagined. I strongly advocated QB integration (open connectivity to programs from other companies) years before Intuit made it a top priority. After all, when I started you could not integrate billing, collections, bank accounts, journals and much more with our ledgers and financial statements. Your QuickBooks is only a big step along the way to total integration of all your business management and personal activities. You can now begin to quickly and easily: never enter data twice; use customer, supplier and bank data to never enter data at all; reduce errors; get results faster; and manage your business far better.

QB alone cannot possibly satisfy all our separate needs. QB2002 Pro was the first QB to allow open integration of products from other companies. A year later there are 11,000 developer companies working with Intuit on this. 650 of us recently met for two days at the first Intuit Developer Conference.

You can choose from 160+ integrated products at a good Intuit website and more than 1,000 at my nearly complete quickbooks-add-ons.com site. My own CPA practice has been so changed by one of these programs that I am considering billing based on how long things used to take, not how long they now take. Clients like you are increasingly adopting these programs. They include super ones for attorneys and one that will cut factor costs by 60%+. I am so sure clients need them I now offer fixed fees, on any work, only if it includes my custom survey and recommendations. These cover which of these many products seem most suited to you.

You can have the survey and recommendations alone for a loss-leader $95, with satisfaction guaranteed, before I figure out how to price it based on the value of savings realized.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The rest of this concerns QB2002 and will soon get updated.

Report templates can be imported and exported - 100+ are at:
http://marketplace.intuit.com/ReportTemplates/ReportTemplates.asp

Anyone can download some to save the substantial time you might spend creating them and to manage your small business faster, easier and more profitably. We have long use report groups like 1 Monthly, 2 Quarterly, 3 Year End to process an entire group of reports with 4 simple clicks. Now all clients can have our best efforts for almost nothing, because anyone with Premier 2002 can backup report groups in seconds and quickly restore them to any 2002 user file.

I am writing this only a few days after QB released 2002, but the integrated programs are already VERY EXCITING!  Two of the first 60 (out of the thousands we can expect) should  drastically change the work of CPAs and those who use QB invoices to ship goods by FedEx, etc. Others may wait, but this CPA began converting during the QB beta tests.

It may be hard for do-it- yourself programmers, but there are now 60 good looking programs  (I only used a few) at http://marketplace.intuit.com. If you use ONE effectively it will save you MANY  times its cost in duplicate error prone entries. It also should help you  make better management decisions faster. What is really EXCITING is that we should soon have thousands of such programs, since 3,500+ developers paid   QB $1,000 each for help with their efforts. Developers can now even get started for nothing.

Here is a partial summary of what is already available:

Do you ship goods on QB invoices or sales orders?

For $50 ShipRush program instantly transfers your QB invoice data to FedEx, Post Office, Airborne or UPS documents & instantly transfers document numbers to QB invoices. The Post Office has its own free program and other carriers should have these soon.

Do you need payroll tax returns QB does not have and easy reports, ready to run or custom programmed for you?

An old friend updated his $79 ReportWiz for you.

Do you want to create powerful custom reports, even if you must do some programming?

For $75 qRpts links to Crystal Reports. For $250 you can auto send these reports on any scheduled basis.

Are you a CPA, attorney or other service professional who uses QB, a contact manager and a Timeslips type billing program?

Time Matters can make you think you have gone to heaven on an economy flight. It integrates QB with far better contact  management, calendars, due date/to do list control, user controlled and automatic integrated emails, faxes and word processing, scanned document management, stored auto procedures, billing, legal research, etc. It even integrates custom and commercial Access programs like the TurboTax ProSeries Practice Manager. This fulfills a 30 year dream of ending duplicate, overlapping and error prone databases.

Note that ACT now imports better with QB, but Time Matters imports it and  synchronizes with QB, Outlook, Timeslips, Amicus Attorney, PC Tabs, etc. There also are hot links between Goldmine and Get-in-Synch that relate to QB and not Time Matters. this means I   can wipe out my continuously corrupt Timeslips file & substantially rebuild it from Time Matters.

Are you more collaborative job oriented?

Then look at Chronicle.

Are you an architect, auto/truck repairer, auto/truck seller, construction company, contract & collection manager, courier, dispatcher, engineer, estimator, franchiser, franchisee, manufacturer, quick change auto lube company, taxi company,  time and expense manager, non-profit, property manager, truck driver company, warehouse manager, web seller,  etc.

There are countless integrated QB solutions expressly  for you at all kind of prices.

Do you want easier online banking, electronic bill payment and employee check deposits, with no QB Deluxe Payroll fees?

Then see EZ-Direct Deposit.

Do you need a point of sale, bar code reader, web order entry program or something more than the QB timer (so you can edit)?

There are several that have been around for some time, which now integrate with QB.

Do you want wireless phone and pager access to QB?

 EByz has it.

Would you like a fingerprint time and attendance solution?

It is $350 from Count Me In?

Would you like to link scanned documents and pictures to QB transactions?

Then pay $149 to dti-imaging or $69.95 - $99.95 to Qcapture.

Do you want easier do it yourself integration, with real time bi-directional QB links?

The $495 CoreObjX  program may be what you need, You also can get qSyncMdb for $50 and should soon have a comparable Datablox program.
